Sanyo

Now a subsidiary of Panasonic, Sanyo was a Japanese electronics company and a former Fortune Global 500 member. A producer of bicycle generator lamps in the late 1940s, Sanyo went on to develop and sell incubators, solar cells and plants, and electric vehicle batteries. The company lost its footing in 2004 when an earthquake severely damaged its semiconductor plant, which eventually led to Sanyo's acquisition by Panasonic in 2009.
